-- About Jabbit --
Jabbit is my first ever video game, developed using Godot Engine. It's a simple 2D action platformer, focused mainly on multiplayer PVP for now, as well as supporting custom addons like character skins and stages. It's still in development privately, but I'm planning to reveal it this year once I get my house in order IRL.
The titular character also happens to be my mascot OC, however he is not a sona in any form. I have some mid pixel art of him in my Gallery created by myself, as well as on Toyhouse.
I suggest following one of my socials, preferably X or Mastodon, if you're interested in keeping up with development. Jabbit related posts can be found under the #jabbit tag.
-- Key Inspirations --
Before I even had a name and a character for this project, my goal was simply to create an online PVP platformer directly inspired by the Mario Vs. Luigi mode from New Super Mario Bros. on the DS. The fan remakes we have on PC today didn't exist at this time, and I wanted a fun game similar to it on PC, with limited support for addons like custom character skins and stages. Gameplay wise, it was initially going to be a recreation of the original inspiration, power ups and all.
Since then, I've taken the project in a slightly different direction, taking further inspiration from even more games, and whatever wacky things I can come up with. Here's a few other games that, in some way, are inspiring the direction Jabbit is going now;
- New Super Mario Bros.
- Various kart racers.
- Chrono Gear: Warden of Time (Steam Link)
- Various modding communities, such as DOOM, Quake, Minecraft JE.
